A courier boy, K. Nagaraj, 24, allegedly assaulted M. Senthilkumar, 36, of Anaiyur after he scolded him for repeatedly calling his wife over her phone, at Park Town on Friday.
According to police, Nagaraj had gone to deliver a parcel at Senthilkumar’s residence in Anaiyur two months back.
He had then collected the mobile number from Senthilkumar’s wife while delivering the parcel. Since, then the courier boy had been calling his wife repeatedly. When his wife complained about this to Senthilkumar, he and his mother Revathi, scolded Nagaraj for his behaviour and asked him to stop calling his wife forthwith.
When again he made a call to the woman, Senthilkumar along with his colleague, Shanmugavelu, went to the courier office at Park Town on Friday evening.
Nagaraj started to shout at Senthilkumar and suddenly assaulted him. Then he picked up a stone and hit him repeatedly on his head and forehead. The injured man got first-aid at the Primary Health Centre in Anaiyur and then got treated as an outpatient at the Government Rajaji Hospital.
Based on his complaint, the Koodal Nagar police have registered a case of assault against the courier boy.
