Kasimkota Police on Wednesday arrested 24-year-old S. Karthik in connection with a chain-snatching incident reported from Kotha Atcharla in Anakapalli district on June 16.
Anakapalli DSP M. Sravani said Karthik, hailing from Payakaraopeta, had quit his job and got involved in online betting. On the day of the incident, he allegedly approached a woman on the pretext of asking for directions, distracted her, and then snatched her gold chain before fleeing. According to police, the motive behind the crime was to make easy money.
