Sood asks DMs to inspect night shelters, ensure all arrangements are in place

A day after inspecting night shelters at Sarai Kale Khan and finding “irregularities in their management”, Delhi Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood on Friday asked District Magistrates to inspect all night shelters in the city and ensure that all arrangements are in place.

During a meeting with officials, Mr. Sood said the irregularities in the functioning of the night shelters will be investigated.

The Minister said he discussed the issues of fake employees in night shelters, the presence of anti-social elements, and mismanagement with the officials.

Mr. Sood also asked officials to coordinate with the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) and enhance the transparency and effectiveness of the night shelters.

During the meeting, DUSIB officials informed the Minister that they are developing an app-based system to track employee attendance at night shelters.
