Andhra Pradesh-Genco Director (Hydel) M. Sujay Kumar has emphasised the need to complete the hydroelectric power station at Polavaram in line with the main irrigation project’s timeline.
Speaking after performing puja and inaugurating a critical 150/30-tonne capacity crane at the Polavaram Hydroelectric Station on Friday, Mr. Kumar instructed the officials and the contracting agency to prepare a comprehensive action plan to ensure timely completion of the power station. He said the works should progress simultaneously with the diaphragm wall and the ECRF works of the Polavaram project.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance of the crane. The electrically operated overhead traveller crane would be used for installing major components such as turbines and generators at the hydropower station.
Satish Babu Angara, Chief Operating Officer of MEIL, said two additional cranes with a capacity of 225/40 tonnes would be installed soon. He informed Mr. Kumar that installation works of the turbines and generators would commence soon, and eight generators had already arrived at the project site.
