Two persons have been arrested and a juvenile apprehended for the murder of a 20-year-old man in a road rage incident in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony, the police said.
The minor got into an argument with Yash, 20, on Friday. The argument quickly got escalated into a scuffle as two associates of the minor and Yash, his cousin got involved in the matter.
“After Yash brushed past the minor, an argument broke out between the two groups. In the heat of the moment, Yash’s cousin slapped Amaan. This led the three accused to chase Yash and his cousin,” DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said.
While the chase, Amaan allegedly stabbed Yash in the lower back, said a senior police officer.
Locals rushed Yash to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to injuries.
‘Planned attack’
As per Yash’s family, there were about four to five people who surrounded him. “It felt like a planned attack, and it was intentional since they allegedly brushed against our scooter,” Yash’s cousin, Aman Sharma said.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra, accompanied by local MLA Dr. Anil Goel, visited Yash’s residence in Rani Garden to meet with his grieving parents and offer condolences and support.
Mr. Malhotra assured the family that the Delhi Police would investigate the case with diligence and a strong case would be prepared. “If required, the Delhi government would provide the best legal assistance for action against the accused,” he said.
A case has been filed under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused, identified as Md. Amaan and Lucky.
