The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), City Range-1 unit, apprehended an Assistant Engineer with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a complainant.
AE T. Manisha was arrested at 2 p.m. from the GHMC office of Ward No. 2 in Nehru Nagar, Golnaka, Amberpet.
According to the ACB, the bribe was demanded to process and forward the complainant’s bills to higher authorities. The accused had already accepted ₹5,000 earlier for the same purpose.
ACB officials confirmed that the officer performed her duty dishonestly and misused her position to obtain undue advantage. The bribe money was recovered from the accused at the scene. A chemical test confirmed the presence of the bribe amount on both of her hands.
Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody and is being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The case is currently under investigation.
The ACB has urged the public to report any bribe demands by government officials to their toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made via WhatsApp at 9440446106 or through ACB Telangana’s official pages on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) at @TelanganaACB. The identity of the complainant will be kept confidential.
