The CPI (M) has appealed to the district administration to take steps for giving the MRI scan reports at the Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital immediately to the patients by filling-up the vacancy in the MRI unit.
In a petition submitted with the District Collector, CPI (M) Thoothukudi district secretary M. S. Muthu said the results of MRI scans being done in Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital was handed over to the patients only after 10 days as the radiologist in the MRI scan unit of TKMCH had been transferred to Kovilpatti Government Hospital.
Since a few thousand poor patients are coming to the TKMCH everyday, after undergoing MRI scan they wait anxiously for getting the reports.
Hence, the District Collector should take immediate steps for issuing the MRI scan reports immediately to the patients so that they can start the right line of treatment at the earliest, Mr. Muthu said.
