There is good news for poor patients suffering from chronic kidney disease as haemodialysis facility will be available soon in the primary health centres at Agastheeswaram and Thoothoor in Kanniyakumari district.
In a statement, District Collector R. Alagumeena said the patients suffering from end-stage renal disease would require haemodialysis twice or thrice a week which cause significant expenditure to the patient.
In Kanniyakumari district, 175 patients are undergoing haemodialysis regularly in Kanniyakumari District Government Medical College Hospital at Aasaaripallam, while the Kuzhithurai and Padmanabhapuram Government Hospitals handle 32 and 40 chronic kidney disease patients respectively.
Hence, the government has sanctioned haemodialysis facility for the primary health centres at Agastheeswaram and Thoothoor for the benefit of the patients from these areas, Ms. Alagumeena said.
