Raman, the head constable of Kanakamma Chatram police station in Tiruvallur district, was arrested for the assault of three women including a pregnant woman on Wednesday.
A senior police official of Tiruvallur district said Superintendent of Police Srinivasa Perumal had placed the head constable under suspension after preliminary inquiry on Tuesday. The next day, he was arrested by the Kanakamma Chatram station police following the filing of a case based on the complaint filed by the three women.
The assault of three women by the head constable happened after Arun and Sivaji had filed a case in Kanakamma Chatram Police Station two days ago against a 38-year-old woman, who lives in a rented house for continuously harassing him. When she and her friends went to the police station, Head constable Raman, who was on duty, assaulted the women.
The video of him attacking the women went viral and after preliminary inquiry he was placed under suspension before his arrest on Wednesday.
