A head constable under Mathur police station died in an accident on Sunday morning. Jasmin Milton Raj (43), along with constable Sukumar, was heading to Mathur from Kottur by a two-wheeler early Sunday morning when a lorry that came behind hit the vehicle. While the head constable died on the spot, Sukumar suffered minor injuries. The Mathur police sent the body to Krishnagiri Government Hospital for post-mortem. On information, Krishnagiri District Superintendent of Police P. Thangadurai went to the spot and inquired. The Mathur police registered a case and are investigating.
Man arrested for murder in Salem
A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for murdering a conservancy worker recently. Manimegalai (41) of Sankagiri was working in Sankagiri Municipality. On June 17, she was found dead near Yerikadu on Sankagiri-Tiruchengode Road. The police investigation revealed that P. Karthick of Vellandivalasu near Edappadi allegedly murdered her in a quarrel. On Saturday, the police nabbed Karthick. He was remanded in prison.
Child dies in accident in Salem
A two-year-old child was killed in an accident in Salem on Saturday. Vedha Sri, daughter of Senthilkumar (36), a painter residing at Chinna Agraharam near Ayothiyapattinam, was playing near a mini van when the driver, Sathish Kumar, moved the vehicle without noticing her. According to the police, the child got stuck under the wheel. Residents took her to a private hospital in the locality, but Vedha Sri died on the way. The Karipatti police registered a case and are investigating.
