A 37-year-old man from Kerala died in a road accident involving his car and a lorry on Thuvakudi ring road on the outskirts of Tiruchi city on Tuesday.
The accident occurred at dawn when a couple from Idukki in Kerala were returning from Velankanni in a car. The vehicle was driven by J. Donat, 37, and his wife D. Amarliya, 32, was seated inside. Police said the car and a container lorry that came in the opposite direction collided. The car thereafter hit the crash barrier.
Donat was killed on the spot, while his wife sustained injuries. She was admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital at Tiruchi. Thuvakudi police are investigating.
