A man was arrested by the Narayanaguda police on Saturday for allegedly making inflammatory remarks targeting a religious community and insulting the country’s sovereignty, following a dispute at a spare parts shop in Ramkote.
According to police, the incident occurred on June 25, when the individual, belonging to a particular community and new to the area, visited the shop to purchase vehicle spare parts. Dissatisfied with the price, he returned the next evening, on June 26, claiming the shop had overcharged him and demanded that the parts be taken back, said the Inspector of Narayanguda police, U. Chandra Shekar.
“An argument broke out between him and the shop staff. During the exchange, the customer allegedly began abusing members of the other community and hurled communal slurs. He also made derogatory remarks against the sovereignty of India,” said the officer.
As tensions escalated, the man reportedly fled the scene. Following a complaint, the Narayanaguda police registered a case and arrested him on June 28. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
