Yashpal Suvarna, MLA, on Sunday urged the Udupi district police to immediately bring to book the persons who discarded the severed head and other parts of a cow on Kunjalu main road in Brahmavara taluk.
Leading a protest meeting at the Kunjalu Rama Mandira, Mr. Suvarna said the sighting of the severed body parts of a cow by the public on Saturday night had hurt the religious sentiments of people. He urged the police to put an end to the cow theft racket in the district.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Noor Juma Masjid committee submitted a memorandum to the Brahmavara police to identify the miscreants responsible for the act. Stating that the incident appeared to be a deliberate attempt to divide the communities that had been living in harmony, the committee said the culprits should be immediately arrested to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. Jamath president Mohammed Shabbir, vice-president Sujid Khan and others were present in the delegation.
