
Over 300 volunteers of “Shourya” Disaster Management team of the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project took part in emergency response and skill development training programme conducted by the National Disaster Response Force personnel in Dharmastala on Friday.

About 330 volunteers of “Shourya” Disaster Management team of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) took part in an emergency response and skill development training programme conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel in Dharmasthala on Friday.
In the inaugural address, Pattadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmastla Veerendra Heggade lauded the service of Shourya volunteers during natural disasters and other emergency situations in Dakshina Kannada in the last five years.
Asking volunteers to face tragedies in life with confidence, Mr. Heggade said volunteers should continue helping disaster victims and become their saviours. During the relief operations, volunteers should take care of their lives also. Serving victims during disasters was akin to serving god, he said.
Senior officer of NDRF, Shantilal Jatiya, said it will be good to have “Shourya” volunteers team across the country. In coordination with teams of volunteers, disaster relief operations can be effectively conducted. It was good that the government has recognises “Shourya”, Mr. Jatiya said.
Shourya volunteers Ravindra from Ujire, Avinash from Arasinamakki, Dinesh Shetty from Naravi, and Savita Pereira were felicitated. Shourya teams from Shishila-Arasinamakki unit and Madanthyar were honoured as good performing units
