Members of various revenue associations in Salem, under the banner of the Federation of Revenue Associations (FERA), staged a protest on Wednesday (June 25, 2025) demanding protection for staff while on duty.
The members said that despite being assigned additional responsibilities, they continue to discharge their duties . However, their demands remain unaddressed, forcing them to resort to protest. They pointed out that staffs across all categories in the department continued to face assaults while on duty, and their request for a law to protect revenue employees had not yet materialised.
They also noted that the earlier practice of providing job to a family member of a deceased employee on compassionate grounds had been discontinued. Furthermore, they expressed concern that there had been no significant salary revision in recent years, even though their workload had increased.
In Erode, members of the revenue association took out a rally from Sampath Nagar, highlighting their seven-point charter of demands. Over 500 staff members participated , which culminated in a protest on the Collectorate premises, where they raised slogans urging the State Government to address their concerns.
