The row over thespian ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan alias V.C. Ganesan’s sprawling bungalow Annai Illam at T. Nagar in Chennai has ended, with his elder son G. Ram Kumar permanently discharging himself from all liabilities, due to a finance firm, on final payment of ₹2.85 crore.
The Madras High Court’s first Division Bench comprising Chief Justice K.R. Shriram and Justice Sunder Mohan disposed of an original side appeal filed by Dhanabakkiam Enterprises after recording a joint compromise memo filed on behalf of both litigants.
The appeal had been filed against an order passed by a single judge on April 21, 2025, lifting the attachment of the bungalow since it was owned entirely by the late thespian’s younger son G. Prabhu, and the elder son had completely relinquished all his rights over the property.
Pending adjudication of the appeal, it was represented before the Division Bench that the parties sat across the table and resolved all issues pending between them with respect to the loan obtained by Mr. Ram Kumar’s son R.G. Dusshyanth for producing a movie titled Jagajaala Killadi.
As per the agreement reached between them, the debtors had handed over a demand draft for ₹2.85 crore to the finance firm on June 12, 2025, and the latter, in turn, had agreed to withdraw all cases pending not only before the Madras High Court but also before Metropoligan Magistrate courts.
After recording the joint compromise memo signed by the counsel from both sides, the Division Bench diposed of the appeal by accepting the contents of the memo as an undertaking given to the court.
