Special teams have been formed to trace and arrest KV Kuppam MLA and Puratchi Bharatham Katchi leader for his alleged involvement in the abduction of a boy to separate an inter-caste couple in Thiruvalangadu, Tiruvallur district.
Finding prima facie materials to establish his role in the abduction of a boy from Tiruvallur, the Madras High Court on Friday declined to grant anticipatory bail to Mr. Moorthy.
The case relating to the abduction of the teenager from his house in Tiruvalankadu police limits on June 7, 2025, by five unidentified persons to separate his brother and his wife who had inter-caste marriage. The abducted boy was later abandoned near the Perumbakkam bus stand. Preliminary probe brought to the fore the alleged involvement of Mr. Moorthy and H.M Jayaram, an ADGP-rank IPS officer who is presently under suspension. The case is presently probed by CB CID.
In the meantime, an appeal was filed on behalf of Mr. Moorthy in the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail.
