Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Saturday said that an advanced education system utilising AI, smart display boards, and robotics — similar to what has already been implemented in Gujarat’s schools — will soon be introduced in the Delhi government-run schools. Mr. Sood made the statement after a tour of schools run by the Surat Municipal Corporation. “Such new education initiatives will not only raise the quality of education in Delhi’s government schools but also enhance students’ exposure to modern technologies,” he said.
The Minister also criticised the education model by the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, saying Gujarat, often beset by natural disasters such as floods, had established one lakh smart classrooms in contrast to the few hundred such classrooms created by AAP in its two terms in power. “This completely exposes the failure of the so-called Delhi model,” he said.
In response, the Opposition party said, “It is ironic that a BJP Minister is making these remarks in Gujarat, which his party has ruled for 30 years. Yet during the 2022 Gujarat Assembly election, Prime Minister Modi had to stage a photoshoot in a fake classroom because the State government-run schools have been in a shambles.”
AAP said its government in Delhi had “transformed public education in just 10 years by building 22,700 fully-equipped smart classrooms with labs, libraries, and sports facilities”.
